AQUALYX- FAT DISSOLVING
Aqualyx is a non surgical fat dissolving injection treatment. The procedure uses a solution of deoxycholic acid, a secondary bile acid which the body naturally produces itself in the liver to aid the digestion of fat. The solution is used to safely and effectively eliminate small, stubborn pockets of fat which resit diet and exercise.
The acid works to break down the structure of the fat cells. Once broken down, fat cells are dissolved, or liquified.is can then be easily burned as the body metabolises it.
It is important to know that this is not a weight loss treatment. The best candidates are those already leading a healthy lifestyle and maintaining their weight through a balanced diet and exercise. Its aim is to target those stubborn areas of fat, to contour the body and reduce cellulite.
WHAT AREAS CAN BE TREATED?
Aqualyx can be used on areas of fat underneath the chin, upper arms, the bra bulge, male breasts, stomach, back, hips, saddlebags, buttocks and thighs.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
The number of treatments you will need will depend on how much fat is in the area you want to target. It also depends on how your body reacts to the Aqualyx and how well you are following the aftercare advice.
Some people will see dramatic improvement from just 1 or 2 sessions, others may need up to 8 treatments, especially larger areas or areas with more stubborn fat.
Treatments will be carried out 4-6 weeks apart, dependant on the individuals recovery time.
Side effects are normally minimal. Redness of the area, bruising, tenderness and swelling are very normal. The skin may also feel itchy. These tend to subside within a few days, however the swelling can last a few weeks. It is important to take this into account when booking your procedure to ensure you have enough downtime, especially when booking special, occasions etc. Any other side effects will be discussed prior to treatment.
AM I SUITABLE FOR TREATMENT?
A consultation, medical and consent form will be completed prior to treatment. The practitioner will then discuss if you are suitable to go ahead with treatment.
This treatment is not suitable for anyone under the age of 18, those pregnant or breastfeeding. There are certain medical conditions/medications that may mean you're not suitable however this will all be discussed with you at consultation.
POST TREATMENT ADVICE
Do NOT apply cosmetics to treated area for 12 hours following treatment.
Avoid direct sources of heat and sunlight whilst the area is inflamed.
Abstain from demanding exercise for 5-7 days.
Maintain a healthy diet whilst released fat us being metabolised to avoid fat storage elsewhere.
Drink plenty of fluids following treatment and avoid alcohol.
No anti-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen or aspirin for at least 48 hours. Paracetamol is advised.
Anica cream can be used to help with bruising.
Massage the area 2-3 times a day for at least a week. This should be started 24 hours post treatment or as soon as the tenderness subsides.
